Seventeen complete program to serve as State Program Examiners

The Granite State Quality Awards and Recognition process is carried out by a volunteer Board of Examiners.  These volunteers complete a rigorous certification program comparable to an MBA course, and gain valuable insight and skills to for their own organizations and careers.  After completing the program they have the ability to evaluate and provide feedback to organizations in New Hampshire, Vermont, and other states based on the Malcolm Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence.
Congratulations to the following newly Certified and Re-Certified Examiners who completed the Granite State Quality Council and Vermont Council for Quality Examiner Training.  Thank you each for your participation and the work that lies ahead!

The Granite State Quality Council welcomes the in Bow as our newest Ambassador Sponsor.  Many of you saw first hand the Grappone Collision Center's Commitment to Excellence as a customer and employee focused and environmentally aware company, and we are delighted to have them join our other wonderful Sponsors

In November, the GSQC also welcomed Pam Slingsby and Richard Tango-Lowy as new Board Members.  Both Rich and Pam have been active volunteers for the GSQC and we welcome their energy and leadership as we plan for 2010.

What is your Tiebreaker?

Can you answer the question "Why should I choose you?"

I read a recent article in that asked readers to consider what sets their organization apart - what would make someone choose them over another organization?  The article went on to point out that if no other differentiator is evident the tiebreaker becomes price, a game that few companies can win at for very long.

Insights from the Baldrige Regional Conference

Several New Hampshire people attended October's Baldrige Regional Conference in Cambridge, MA featuring 2008 National Baldrige Award Recipients Cargill Corn Milling, Iredell-Statesville Schools, and Poudre Valley Health System. Thanks to Jack Meagher (New Hampshire Ball Bearings) and Jeff Allar (Stonyfield Farm) for the following practical insights applicable to any organization.

What is your Value Proposition?

Whether an individual or an organization, having a clear
Value Proposition is increasingly important.

In the past month I have had the opportunity to attend a couple of our nonprofit partner events that have stressed the importance of having a clearly communicated "value proposition" (what I consider a unique and valuable position that provides an advantage sustained over time).

Providing the culture and tools for employees to communicate their knowledge is one of the most effective ways to improve your organization's efficiency, make your processes more transparent, and empower your employees to make your business better. It is also one of the most difficult things to do. Richard’s experience in developing knowledge strategies and teaching the cultural and technical aspects of knowledge sharing, make him uniquely qualified to help us improve this critical capability for our organizations.
